One of the hardest things to do is to bring a pet into your home and heart….and then let it go.
This is what Becky and Shane Brazil did for M.C., the adorable pit bull pup, that WFCHS placed with them for foster care until a permanent home was found. Sometimes it takes awhile.
The love, discipline and socialization a foster home gives our shelter dogs is invaluable. Any volunteers out there to help with the program? You would get more from the pets than you give from the commitment. Often the placement is very short term, but very urgent.
M.C. and all of us at WFCHS send a special thanks to Becky and Shane.
We don’t want to forget our other foster families. Some of them went on to adopt their charges: Mike and Jan Dowling, Jimmy Porter and Diane Cleary, Hilda Thomas, Cynthia Boyhan, Sandie Leseberg, Lizzy Sanders and John Angst, Michelle Covelluzi, Jan Holloway, Corky Emmons, and RaDawna Kuhlman.
Maybe you have seen us out there washing dogs or selling t-shirts or soliciting funds through mailings.
WFCHS spends most of that money we raise through those very visible efforts for veterinary care of the shelter animals---vaccinations and spay/neuters. We can stretch those dollars by transporting animals in need of such services to vet clinics offering substantial discounts. We hope to compile a list of volunteers so that no one will be asked to do it so often; maybe just once a year.
So perhaps you would consider transporting a cat or dog to Riverton on a day when you need to do errands.
