In 1993 a dry, warm animal shelter was constructed with town and county support. Soon after, two large outdoor runs, four indoor cat enclosures, a storage shed and hot water heater were added.
Our volunteers take care of the impounded animals on weekends, holidays and whenever the town’s animal control officer is not available.
When owners cannot be found, the animals are offered for adoption after being vaccinated and neutered by WFCHS. We would not consider euthanasia except in the most difficult situations, such as terminal illness or extreme aggression.
WFCHS is a registered
501©3 non-profit charity
(tax ID 84-1624049). Besides generous donations from the community, the humane society holds fund raising events throughout the year. Our biggest one is a horse show, which brings in competitors from elsewhere, benefits our local economy and provides fun for everyone.
